Cherry Queen is a classic giant among Zinnias.

Its towering height and bold scarlet color make it a standout in the back of flower beds or as a centerpiece in cutting gardens. Arrange these behind shorter varieties to ensure they don't overshadow your low-growing plants.

These giants need excellent ventilation and plenty of direct sun to thrive. Always water the soil directly to keep the foliage dry, as their dense growth makes them susceptible to powdery mildew. Otherwise, this is a remarkably hardy, heat-tolerant, and prolific producer.

Sow Indoors or Outdoors:

Cherry Queen seeds may be sown 4-6 weeks indoors and transplanted outside after final frost, or sown directly in the garden once soil has warmed to 70 degrees. Because zinnias are sensitive to root disturbance, biodegradable peat or paper pots are recommended for indoor starts.

Deadheading & Harvesting:

To keep the plant producing flowers all season, practice "cut-and-come-again" harvesting. Use sharp snips to cut stems just above a leaf node; this encourages the plant to branch out and double its bloom production. Regularly remove any faded or dead flowers (deadheading) to prevent the plant from going to seed too early.
